1940s Dark Navy Cordé Handbag with Gold Tone Metal Fittings, Made in England

Beautiful dark navy Cordé handbag featuring a wonderful swirl and line design, and a gold tone metal frame and fold-over metal clasp. Measuring maximum width 27cm / 10.63 inches, by maximum height 16.5cm / 6.49 inches. Handle drop 15.8cm / 6.22 inches. The inside is lined with moiré fabric, which is in very good condition, and features three pockets, probably for a lipstick, compact, and mirror. One of the pockets holds a fabric envelope for the mirror. The inside label reads 'This is a genuine Cordé product Regd. Mark. Made in England'. There is wear to the lining at the top of the handle, and at the bottom of the handle on both sides. The gold tone metal fittings show wear. The Cordé fabric is in very good condition. Cordé fabric was advertised as the longest wearing of all the handbag fabrics in the 1940s. This statement certainly has held true for this lovely bag.
