In ancient Egypt, diamonds could be found in the ankh hieroglyph, a motif with a cross with a top loop symbolizing the "breath of life." The stone's placement represented the sun, which the Egyptians considered the source of power, truth, and courage. Today, we still wear the engagement ring on the third finger of our left hand because of the Egyptians.
