This circa 1920s Art Deco ring features an impressive and fiery raspberry-red rhodolite garnet. This scintillating stone measures approximately 9.93 mm x 10.17 mm and weighs just over 2.60 carats. The gem displays vivid flashes of pink, purple, and even electric blue. It is surrounded by a halo of twenty very old and achingly beautiful white (one is fancy light chocolate!) diamonds in a combination of antique cuts. The diamonds are rather impossible to measure precisely given the fact that they are mounted, but together they total at least ½ carat. Halo rings often have protruding claws or a central stone that can get snagged on pockets or clothing. But this garnet is flush-mounted with the halo of diamonds. The white gold mounting is compact, sleek, and quite modern. It's a work of aerodynamic elegance. A previous sizing removed any hallmarks. The ring tests at around 15K and I expect it is from England. The garnet shows the expected wear from a stone of this age; all garnets collect scars as they travel through life. But it's an incredibly beautiful stone and the setting is simply gorgeous. Currently a size 5 ½, this ring could be resized by your local jeweler.
