A large, dramatic statement necklace rendered in sterling silver and dating to the Art Deco era. A lavish amount of silver was used in creating this piece: 115.19 grams; that’s a quarter of a pound of sterling silver. Each component of this necklace was hand-fabricated. All of those angled silver wires that radiate outward were individually hand-formed, each capped with a hand-made silver bead. Absolutely nothing on this necklace is machine-made. Even the complex snake chain you see was crafted entirely by human hands. It is a staggeringly impressive work of silversmithing. This is not a necklace for somebody who just wants to blend in, but neither is it so wildly eccentric you can only wear it once. As unique as it may be, the lines are classic. One can imagine such a necklace being created in ancient Egypt or Rome. I display it against black but it looks beautiful on bare skin, where it sits upon the collar bones. It is 15" in length. Marked for metal fineness and with a maker's mark I could not identify.
