Art Deco period Cartier pieces are legendary, it was the era of Jeanne Toussaint, nicknamed La Panthere, who became Head of Creation in 1933. She was the first woman in the jewelry business to hold such an important position. The Toussaint-Cartier collaboration was one the House's most glamorous periods- the Duchess of Windsor Panther pieces, the famed Flamingo brooch, jewels inspired by the Maharajas of India, the Maria Felix crocodile and serpent pieces all date from this period. The present ring features a superb natural octagonal step cut sapphire set in a classic Art Deco streamlined elegant 18K gold setting highlighting the gemstone's shape and size. Signed Cartier with inventory numbers along the bridge area. Size 10US With a red leather velvet lined Cartier ring box.
