Fausto Puglisi Statue of Liberty Bodycon Dress, 2014

Fausto Puglisi is an Italian designer that has risen to much international acclaim over the past two decades. Puglisi’s designs have a certain irony to them, an amalgamation of various ideas and concepts into a final look. In his work, he often blends traditional Italian elements with iconic relics of American culture. From his Fall 2014 collection, this sheath dress reflects a more minimalistic aesthetic than much of his recent work. A color block design merges the black bodice with the red lower portion at an empire line. This in a perhaps tongue-in-cheek way is accented by pop-art renderings of the Statue of Liberty in a black and parchment tone decorating the lower part of the dress. This thigh length dress stretches to beautifully conform to the curves of the wearer and has an incredibly matte finish bringing out the color and detail of the print of the fabric. In excellent condition, the bodice of the dress is self-faced. In addition to the stretch of the fabric, there is an invisible side zip closure.
