Prada has been in the business of designing collections inspired by the very women who wear their clothes allowing them to consistently create bold, modern, and flattering ensembles. By collaging subtle elements from decades of women’s progress such as 20s dropped waist or 40s boxy silhouettes with more trendy elements for spectacle, the Fall 2011 collection was a procession through the past with thought for the future. From that collection, this coat is made from a black virgin wool with a large windowpane check of mulberry, mauve, and yellow. The large wrap-around collar attaches to large, double-breasted lapels edged in off-white trim that creates a plunging neckline. At the dropped waist, an attached shocking red belt defines the waist and adds a punch of contrast. Complimenting the straight lines of the coat, the slightly cropped sleeves are finished at an angle. Perfect as an overcoat or as a stunning coat dress, this coat can be seen as look #7 on that season’s runway. Size estimate: XS/S Size: 38 IT Bust: 36 inches Sleeves: 22 inches Waist: 36 inches Hips: 36 inches Length: 36 inches This coat features side slit pockets and is fully lined in a matching rayon. It closes at the centre front with buttons while the belt fastens with hidden snaps. This coat is in excellent condition. Professionally eco dry cleaned and pressed, high-quality vintage pieces like this are yours to live in and love while increasing in value every year. It’s never too soon to start collecting them, as an investment in your wardrobe—and in yourself.
