Rodarte Watercolor Jacket Runway Spring ,2008

The Rodarte look tends to have a certain historical romanticism. The designs are either hyper feminine and demure or vibrant and ostentatious. The 2008 collection took a less traditional approach inspired by Japan, this collection was a midway between the elegant and extreme. Created from a rose gold sateen, this jacket appears to have a paint-pour design slowly running across it. Warm tones of gold, crimson, and burnt orange are accented by marbled shades of lilac that imply a canyon or sunset scene in an abstract way. An atypical squiggle lapel plunging down the center giving to the liquid quality of the textile design. With a generally oversized silhouette, the long sleeves are intended to be scrunched up further adding to the illusion of this jacket.
