Vintage Yves Saint Laurent Lucite Squares Silver Belt Necklace

During the stint of WW2, many designers and fashion houses were tasked with finding solutions to still create new fashions without using highly rationed materials. Thus, lucite-mania was born. The novelty of the material was exciting and quickly came to be in widespread usage, continuing on for decades. This circa 1970 Yves Saint Laurent belt is made from clear lucite squares and circles connected by silver tone links. The combination of geometric lucite pieces and the silver links give this belt a futuristic appeal. Because the belt can be clasped in a variety of locations, it can also be worn stylishly as a statement necklace. Measurements: Length: Adjustable from 30"- 37 inches Width: The squares measure about 1 1/4 inches and the circles are 1 inch On one end, the final silver link is shaped to latch on to another to close the belt.
