Art Deco diamond and onyx geometric openwork brooch in platinum and white gold, French, 1920s/1930s. This jewel features an octagonal onyx horizontal plaque, each side accented with a geometric floral motif pave-set with 36 single-cut and rose-cut diamonds in platinum. It is designed in such a way that when worn, it seems to just float above the fabric. This brooch is secured to reverse with a hinged pin and barrel clasp fitting. Diamonds: 4 single-cut and 32 rose-cut; estimated 0.2ct total. Partial French hallmark for platinum; French hallmark for 18kt gold; marked “83989”, “28” and “89”; another indistinct mark. Dimensions: 4.6 x 2.3 cm. Gross weight: 6.79g. This item is in good condition, with marks and scratches consistent with general age and wear.
