Victorian Cherub Angel Locket Enamel Pearl 12 Karat Gold Pendant Necklace

A rare and wonderful Victorian locket pendant with an image of a Winged Cherub or Angel in the sky with clouds below and playing a lute or lyre. The romantic and charming image is done in enamel with gorgeous colors and details. The Horseshoe shaped locket is 12 Karat Rose Gold. The angel is surrounded by a halo of pearls. The locket has a wonderful bale. It opens on the reverse to reveal the photo or memento compartment. It is so rare to find lockets with images of Cherubs or Angels and done in enamel. I love the delicate design with the lucky horseshoe motif. This one is just perfect. The special locket dances delightfully around the neck and creates a conversation piece to be passed on for generations. The locket dates to circa 1850 - 1900. The locket pendant is 1 1/2 inches (39 mm) long including the bales. The horseshoe portion without the bales is 1 inch long. It is 7/8 inch (21mm) wide. The locket compartment is 19mm by 15mm.
