Exquisite scarce vintage Coco Chanel Mughal style statement clip-on earrings. The long earrings are comprised of gilt metal "metal dore", topaz "pate de verre" glazed glass, and faux pearls in a tiered Mughal design. The iconic tiered Anglo-Indian design became a staple in Chanel's jewelry in the mid-1950s after she reopened her atelier post-war. Her post-war look was based on an exaggeration of the earlier quintessential Chanel style. It was during this important comeback period of Chanel's career that the multi-layers of gilt, glass stones "pate de verre" by Maison Gripoix, and pearls became associated internationally with the house of Chanel. The earrings have the Chanel cartouche on the back of the earring, circa 1970/1980.
