Beautiful George III period sterling silver goblet, 1782. The health benefits of drinking from silver vessels are well known. Silver has antimicrobial properties and is beneficial to the immune system. Whether you're drinking water or wine, a great addition to one's bar and a fabulous gift. The circular, stepped foot with bead decoration and finely engraved garlands with floral embellishments, further engraved with complementary garland motif at the base of the stem. The body of circular, bell shaped form with marvelous long garlands joined by an ornate bow. Large, stylized star elements at the center of each garland drop. The rim design of undulating waves forming numerous figures eight. Original gilt interior in wonderful state of preservation. Engraving is well defined with a lovely patina of having been well cared for. A very slight, almost imperceptible ding at the engraved waves border. Excellent quality, heavy gauge silver. Marks: SW in rectangle, likely Samuel Wood, Lion Passant, London town mark, g corresponding to the year 1782
